Our Mission

At Feathers & Tails Pet Care, we are dedicated to offering superior service to you and your pets. We will always keep you up to date on how your pets are doing, as well as making sure they are getting the most from their visit! This may be ensuring that a dog gets some good ball-throwing time in, your bird gets some fly-time, or that your cat is comfortable before administering medication. We care about you and your pets, and listen to your concerns and questions. This is a growing business, and we are excited with the possibilities that lie ahead. In the past year alone, we have added four new services and expect to offer exciting services in the future! We also have a rewards program for our regular clients, starting with the Vacation Care Discount, and we are looking to offer more in the future, including dog training. So, thank you for trusting and supporting us!

Our Team

Regina Ruggiero / Owner

The test of time is always a good indication of a successful business. Feathers and Tails Petcare is one of those time-tested businesses. For nine years this awarding winning company has served many furry, finned or feathered friends as well as those in shelled houses. No pet is too big or too small to receive loving care from this proven pet care company as well as providing a true comfort level for their humans. Most of the past nine years have been under the ownership of Regina Ruggiero.

Regina has always been interested in a career dealing with animals. She started following her dream as a vet tech and assistant at the Silverlake Animal Hospital. For a time, she considered being a veterinarian, but she determined that was not the interaction she wanted. She started working at Feathers and Tails Petcare and eventually purchased it. She is certified in Cat and Dog First Aid through Pet Tech. Regina is constantly looking into the future.

Regina is married to her best friend, Chris. She is a busy mother of two precious children. Cameron is a typical seven-year-old boy and big brother to Natalia a.k.a. Tally. Miss Tally is an active toddler who just turned three-years-old. Both children seem to have been genetically predisposed to being animal lovers too. Obviously, multitasking and juggling are some of Regina’s talents. School, pre-school, sports, walking dogs and running her business are part of her very busy schedule. The Ruggiero household has always had either a furry, feline, feathered or shelled family members as well. MJ (dog), Buddy (dog), OJ (cat), Minnie (bird), Mickey (bird) and Leonardo (turtle) are the current extended family. Those who know Regina closely, know that the late Snoopy and Woodstock remain near and dear to the family.

Regina’s continued enthusiasm and excitement for Feathers and Tails Petcare is contagious.

Chris Ruggiero / Caretaker

Chris Ruggerio is very much a part of Feathers and Tails Petcare family. He is Regina’s partner in life as her husband and the beloved “dah dah” for Cameron and Tally. He is a former route walker and a major supporter of her business. Prior to his career change, it was nothing to see Chris doing water and poop patrol or walking and playing with multiple furry clients. It was a difficult decision to leave the active position at F&T, but he remains committed to it. He played a big role during the initial transition for Regina. He still plays an important role by sharing in soccer duty and other important family activities as well as a rare and occasional back up as needed.

Chris is an animal enthusiast as well. He stated he has always had a pet and really can’t imagine living in a home without a pet. It is a good thing considering their extended family members!

Andrew “Drew” Paglia / Caretaker

Andrew “Drew” Paglia, Regina’s brother, has been with Feathers and Tails from the transition up to today and beyond. Drew grew up in Wilmington and remains in the area as a busy parent juggling life around three boys. He can be seen driving to and from or on the sidelines of football, soccer, baseball and dance. He has done the extreme laser thing, jumped the right altitude, worked the whiffle out of back yard baseball, hooped until pooped, maintains a perfect pool and now knows a few good hip-hop moves himself.

Drew’s early humanitarian interaction with our animal planet was Melissa, a captured big bull frog that he decided should be freed. He proceeded to feed a stray cat from the cold cut platter for his Holy Communion celebration before the celebration. She decided to “unstray” and stay. He named her Lucky Katie. Well, Katie continued to get lucky and after quite a few offspring went back to her straying lifestyle. The lineage of cats ran out, but another stroke of luck came in the form of a Shamrock. Shamrock was a spoiled little runt puppy with a big capacity for love and loyalty. Now, the Paglia household has a ditzy hyper rescue named Motley and 5-pound bossy rescue named Lola.

Drew seems like a natural with our furry friends, but this could be a family trait.
